The sky was grey,
The dusk not far away,
The city lights shone umpteen bright,
While echoes stirred deep within that night.
Clad in a white shirt and denim blue,
Your scent pulled me close, like morning dew.
You turned to me and breathed divine,
My heart skipped once, no longer mine.
Your eyes searched softly through my face,
Mine turned shy as our souls embraced.
The noise of traffic faded away,
When you held my hand, then looked away.
The car moved slow, nearing my lane,
You missed the turn, almost insane.
Another silent mile passed by,
I treasured your touch, your quiet sigh.
You slowed the car near the temple light,
Then looked in my eyes that gentle night.
You proposed to me, soft yet true,
And my world stopped, revolving round you.
I sat there stunned, lost in a fairytale,
While you kept driving, repeating the tale.
“Are you serious? Is this real?”
My dizzy thoughts I could barely conceal.
“Is the earth still spinning beneath my feet?
Why does this moment feel incomplete?”
A thousand emotions crossed my soul,

I pulled my hand away, yet stayed near,

Pink-er than the suit I wore that day,

Saying, “You look like a rabbit, dear.
There’s nothing to fear, don’t run away,
We are each other’s habit, come what may.”
You said you’d wait for my “Yes” someday soon,
As calmly as stars wait upon the moon.
I wondered quietly, deep inside,
If “No” was ever a choice to decide.
“I’m not saying no…
But it doesn’t mean yes either…” I mumbled low.
And then you smiled, the way you always do,
Saying softly, “Your wish is my command too.”
